Material Testing Laboratory

Laboratory of Biomechanics has participated in material testing from the first time, particularly in tests of human bones. The year 2003 brought a significant change, when we set an Instron 8874 type biomechanical material testing machine going. Using this machine we got the possibility for the introduction of standard material tests beside our biomechanical studies, which raised the possibility of accreditation by establishing the required quality management system.

The Material Testing Laboratory The Material Testing Laboratory

Thanks to a tender we started to realize the accreditation process of the testing activity of the laboratory in 2005, so the Biomechanical Material Testing Laboratory was founded in the same year for the purpose to sharply separate the accredited material testing activity with its quality management system from any other activity of the laboratory.

Accreditation Certificate Accreditation Certificate

The main activity of the Material Testing Laboratory is the research: various biomechanical nature experiments, measurements and tests. In addition, in conjunction with the accredited activity we carry out external orders as well.

Accredited activity

The Biomechanical Material Testing Laboratory works based on the quality assurance system regulated by the international standard EN ISO 17025. The test activity of the Laboratory was accredited in 2007 by the Hungarian Accreditation Board.

The detailed list of our standard testing procedures:

Tensile Testing of Metallic Materials
Testing of welded joints of thermoplastics semi-finished products. Tensile test
Determination of tensile properties -- Part 1: General principles
Methods for determining the density of non-cellular plastics -- Part 1: Immersion method, liquid pyknometer method and titration method
Determination of compressive properties
Determination of flexural properties
Determination of tensile properties -- Part 2: Test conditions for moulding and extrusion plastics
Determination of tensile properties -- Part 3: Test conditions for films and sheets
Determination of tensile properties -- Part 4: Test conditions for isotropic and orthotropic fibre-reinforced plastic composites
Determination of tensile properties -- Part 5: Test conditions for unidirectional fibre-reinforced plastic composites
Plastics and ebonite -- Determination of indentation hardness by means of a durometer (Shore hardness)
